Excalibur at AAMP: Celebrating 40 Years of Flavor, Innovation, and Industry Connections
For the Excalibur team, AAMP has always been more than just a show. It’s a reunion.
“I’m looking forward to seeing lots of old friends next month,” says longtime sales team member Rick McLimans, who will be attending this convention before retirement. Rick’s sentiment captures the spirit of the event, where long-standing customer relationships blend seamlessly with business opportunity.
That sense of connection is something John Brewer, VP of Sales & Marketing, expects to define this year’s experience.
“When we can count on reconnecting with customers who have become good friends over the years, it’s a great experience,” John says. “This will also be Rick McLimans and Scott Werner’s last AAMP show on our team. I’m sure all of us will reflect on the great times we’ve had together over the many years we’ve worked this event.”
While the show offers a chance to honor the past, it’s equally focused on the future, so you can be sure that Excalibur will bring plenty of innovation to the show floor.
“We have a lot to offer at Excalibur Seasoning,” says Sales & Marketing Consultant John Cotilla, pointing to a lineup that continues to resonate with today’s processors. Among the standout solutions is Proper Portions™, a product line that has gained strong momentum throughout the state show circuit and is expected to draw significant attention at AAMP.
Brewer agrees. “Proper Portions™ has been a surprise hit at the state shows this year, and I expect more of the same at the AAMP show. Given we’ll be in the heart of brat country, our Spicy Dill Brat will get attention, along with our Hot Honey fresh sausage blend and Nashville Hot Honey snack stick. Sweet heat continues to trend, and these products deliver right in that space.”
For newer members of the Excalibur team, the national scope of AAMP brings a different kind of excitement.
“This is my first AAMP, and I’m eagerly anticipating the show,” says Sales Consultant Trevor Hall. “I want to see the breadth and scope of it. State shows are great, but this national show is where we’ll meet people from Hawaii and Alaska to Maine. It’s a new and exciting opportunity.”
That nationwide reach, combined with Milwaukee’s reputation as a hub for meat processing tradition, makes this year’s convention especially meaningful and memorable.
Adding to the celebration is a signature event that underscores Excalibur’s 40-year milestone.
“The Thursday evening event at Discovery World will be special for us,” says Brewer. “We’re sponsoring the beverages for everyone attending in celebration of Excalibur’s 40th anniversary.”
Beyond the festivities, the company is also looking ahead to its next chapter. Excalibur plans to share updates on its upcoming R&D Innovation Center and Meat Processing Kitchen, set to open in the fall. The facility represents a significant investment in the future of value-added processing, where customers will have hands-on access to product development, testing, and refinement.
“Our customers will benefit from real-time testing, review, and revision of new flavors,” Brewer explains. “With Rick Reams joining our team as Technical Processing Specialist and leading these conversations, we’ll be bringing a tremendous amount of expertise directly to our customers.”
As AAMP approaches, the energy within Excalibur reflects both pride in its legacy and excitement for what’s ahead. With new products, new faces, and a continued commitment to its customers, the company is ready to close out the season in a way that honors its history and sets the tone for the next 40 years.
